Hecatomb is a fun and effective introductory scenario for Pillage. It’s short, easy to learn, and throws players into the action quickly, making it excellent for teaching the core mechanics.

However, compared to the game’s stronger narrative scenarios, it feels slightly lacking in dramatic tension and atmosphere. It works well as a tutorial, but could benefit from more asymmetrical objectives, environmental pressure, or narrative events to better showcase what makes Pillage truly special: chaotic raids, cinematic moments, and emergent storytelling.
