Ok I saw the reviews of this on YouTube and I knew there were Wolf Head Legionnaires in the kit, but it wasn’t until I held the spue that I saw Wolf Heads and pelts for all three Legionnaires on the spue. That means you can do all of them with Wolf Headed Helmets.
I got both sets od Rome: Legions of the Republic so that I could get Velites with Wolf Heads. But those guys are junior varsity compared to these men, with chain mail going down to the edge of their kilts and real spears snd swords and oval shields. These guys are not going to throw javelins and run to the back, these guys are going to walk up in formation and knock the enemy down. I am building a Republican Roman army, and Carthaginians, and I don’t want Imperial helmets next to my Republican troops, So the Wolf helmets serve two purposes—they are not imperial, and they are way cool. And since I am building 8 man trays, with 2 rows of four, and i saw some genius create a legionnaire with a sideways shield as if to throw his pilum, I thought if one is cool then three or four is way cooler. If you place your man sideways, put the pelt on, place the head at about halfway from straight ahead to left shoulder, cock the head back, so that it looks like they are looking at a line of barbarians walking up to them, and have the right arm ready to throw the spear, with the Little Big Man Shield decals sideways in the front row and normal in the back, you have the coolest roman troops Victrix has created.
And with 24 in the bag, I have 3 armies of Wolf Heads on the field! Soon I will have 6, and next to my Republican troops they will look incredibly good. I don’t know who is sculpting these Victrix figures but they are doing a great job and I am having a great time building and painting all of them, and these Roman Auxillary Infantry are really I mean really incredible if you keep the Imperial helmets in the bag.
Very useful troups on the border.
Very nice. Thank you.
Victrix is my go to for all historical miniatures. The auxiliary sprues contained everything I was hoping for.
