Rome's Legions of the Republic (I) in chainmail plus Velites and Command
This superb box contains 60 highly detailed Republican Roman legionaries wearing chainmail and light infantry skirmishers.
These figure represent Roman legionaries and light infantry, or Velites, of the early Republic. They are suitable for wars with Pyrrhos of Epeiros, the 1st and 2nd Punic Wars against Carthage and the Macedonian Wars against King Phillip V and King Persus. They can also fight Gauls, Spanish, Numidians, Italians and Seleucids.
The set contains 36 legionaries which can be Hastati or Princeps armed with pilum, or you can make some as Triari by arming them with the long spear. There are 3 Centurions, 3 standard bearers and options to make 3 musicians. Also included are 18 light infantry which can be made as Velites after 211BCE or theearlier skirmisher Leves lightly armed with javelins but no shield or helmet.
Those minis are crisp, highly detailed, no flash, easy and a pleasure to paint.
The only thing is that from all options you have to assemble them (that is easy) it is difficult to estimate how it will precisely look as done. However, this not a real issue and I highly recommand this set.
Great value for money.Superb detail. Brilliant .What more can I say?
Love the Repulic Romans! Easy to build and paint, ore fun to play with. Thank you,
Tony Pfeiifer
Plenty of options and models. I made half into Princepes and half into Triarii. Lacking somewhat in poses compared to some newer sets, but this doesn’t bother me much.
