32 Medieval Foot Knights (28mm)
This set has 32 Foot Knights representing knights of the Late 12th to 13th Centuries. They can be used in the Crusades, The First and Second Barons War, The Spanish Reconquista and as Germans, French, Poles, Italians who were all waging war on each other throughout this turbulent time in history.
There are 5 knights in mail and surcoat and 3 wearing just mail. The surcoat did not become universally adopted until the late 13th Century so this gives the set a lot of flexibility.
Helmet styles include:
Earlier styles can be used together with later styles as equipment would last generations as it was passed from Father to Son. These can all be interchangeable with our mounted Knights set.
Weapon options include:
Shields:
We have also produced a few characterful parts such as raised crosses and severed heads so you can really personalise your miniatures.
We have really pushed the boundaries of the tooling department with all the details in this set. We dare not tell you how many fine cutting tools they went through on all this mail! But hats off to the guys for producing some of the finest mail that can be produced at this scale in plastic. Not enough credit is given to the people who do the tooling and the layup as well as the designers and sculptors. It is a team effort to make miniatures this good!
Medieval Foot Knights
Prior to this release Victrix released a kit of fantasy/medieval helmets and shields.
The fantasy dynamic seems to be bleeding through to this collection of figure because the poses available are anything but staid.
Medieval weapons for foot knights, (as opposed to commoners), swords will predominate. They do but there are many other choices including options for buglers and/or banner bearers which fits hand in glove with Saga game system’s banner bearers option for Hearthguard and warrior units.
Another feature of 2nd edition is that a unit should have a reference figure from whom the other figures take their dressing. Victrix provide ample options for a ‘distinctive’ figure to fill that role. Swords, yes. Spears, double and single handed axes, a vicious looking ball and chain and a magnificently brutal cleaver. This is an option for a figure in ‘Eagle’ stance with the weapon held in both hands above the head. Now I’ve assembled a few figures in such a pose and it’s more trouble than it isxx c worth because the stress of the pose is too much for the super glue/plastic cement to bind. No such problems. Humble Revell poly cement did the job.
That’s it, they’re awesome.
Dude, this shit rocks. I'll never buy a GW kit again!
First foray into plastics and boy what a product. Crisp detail and a Miriam of options regards pose, weaponry, heads etc. had as much fun putting these together as I will painting them. Can’t wait for the Medieval Archers and crossbows to come out!
