Victrix Rome's Legions of the Republic (I)

This set of Republican Roman infantry is up to the usual high standard of Victrix figures. The detail is crisp and plentiful, and the assembled figures look excellent. All in all, I am very happy with them. I have two criticisms that disappointed me a little. First is that while there are numerous helmeted-heads on each sprue (14), there are 9 different styles. I found it annoying that there were only a 3 helmets that matched each other, each with only two helmets. This means that trying to get uniformity between the figures was impossible. While it is good for options, it's bad for trying to make a matching group. Second is that there were no figures with pectoral armour to represent Hastati. Victrix make a second set with all pectoral armour (Rome's Legions of the Republic II), but given that there are 60 figures in this pack, there should have been a few with pectoral armour, rather than having to buy a second set of 60 figures just to get this option. Disappointments aside, the figures are high quality and have sharp detail that is a delight if you want to paint them to their full potential.
