Scots/Picts Archers & Crossbowmen

24 x Scots/Picts Archers & Crossbowmen
This versatile plastic set contains 6 sprues and represents Pict and Scots missile troops from the Late Roman period through to the Viking Age, covering two distinct and popular wargaming eras.

The figures can be equipped with bows or crossbows, with options for every model.

Poses include shooting, loading, at rest and just loosed. A wide selection of heads, cloaks and hoods allows you to create varied and characterful skirmishers. The Picts, who dominated northern Scotland from the 3rd century A.D., used archers to support their massed spearmen and to launch sudden ambushes.

Fighting in rough terrain, they relied on concealment, mobility and surprise to unsettle their enemies. There is evidence that the Picts used an early form of crossbow similar to the late Roman arcuballista, though whether it was used primarily for hunting or warfare remains uncertain.

very nice set but

these are very nice figures especially the Bowmen with great variety and fit together very well very pleased with them . crossbowmen like wise are very nice but a bit fiddley as you have two arms to line up with the two hands on the crossbow. I would be better if one arm was attached to he crossbow. Also wondered why the kneeling figure has a separate leg ? but on the whole a very nice set with lots of diversity and bit you can use on other figures and kit bases

Much needed set filling a gap

The miniatures are well crafted and produced giving ample opportunities for variations. The only hesitation I have is the time period this single set has to cover - sixth century to eleventh century. Beautiful figures though.
