Pillage: Siege & Strongholds

Pillage: Sieges & Strongholds - Coming Soon

Sieges & Strongholds is Pillages first supplement! It adds a whole new way to play: the storming and defence of castles, forts and motte-and-bailey strongholds. The rules work for any siege from Antiquity right through to the late Middle Ages, with every engine from the Roman scorpion to the medieval trebuchet.

All the Pillage core rules still apply. On top of them, a set of siege rules makes games more tactical and gives attackers and defenders very different problems to solve.

Both the book and the plastics will be out in very early 2027.

How a siege plays:

Every siege starts with a fortress. It can be a single wall across the table, a complete fort, a fortified keep or a motte ringed by a moat. The fortress sets the size of the battle: the bigger it is, and the more towers and great gates it has, the larger the defenders’ budget. The attackers get a bigger budget still. That buys the heavy equipment they need to break in, as long as they’re ready to take heavy losses doing it.

  • A reworked fire phase: hurl incendiary projectiles at the enemy, then scramble to put out the flames before they take hold.
  • Siege engines with their own rules: mantlets, battering rams, siege towers, ladders, ballistae, stone-throwers, incendiary projectiles, chevaux de frise and caltrops.
  • Fighting on the walls and inside buildings: the battle doesn’t stop at the gate.
  • From Antiquity to the Middle Ages: every engine from the Roman scorpion to the medieval trebuchet and the flame-throwing siphon, so the book works with future Pillage supplements too.

What’s inside:

  • History: an introduction to siegecraft and the stages of a siege, plus historical sidebars throughout to inspire your games.
  • Rules: everything you need to fight over, and inside, defensive architecture.
  • Siege weapons: every engine available, with its special rules.
  • Hobby: guides to building your own siege engines and fortifications.
  • Campaign: play out a whole siege, from the first alarm as an invading army appears to the final assault on the walls.

The book is packed with original artwork by Ayman El-Sakrane, Even Amundsen, Gabriel Pissondes, Jonny Sun, Leslie Biao, Prosper Tipaldi and Stijn Windig.
